The Bailey Sisters

Introducing.......

The Bailey Sisters

We're not sisters, and we don't drink Bailey's! The Bailey Sisters are three friends who enjoy making music together. Karen and Shelley are old friends who sing in the same choir (Duodecimo - also on MySpace) and Aly and Shelley are sisters-in-law-in-law (think about it!) Aly and her husband Phil are members of Eve and the Garden.

We first came together musically at one of Maddy Prior's "Singing from the Soul" weekends in Cumbria (highly recommended - go to www.maddyprior.co.uk for more details). The Bailey Sisters came into being in November 2007 during a weekend at Karen's house. We are working on building up a repertoire of mainly traditional and early music, using close harmonies, guitar, fiddle, recorders and a variety of bangy, shaky, scrapy things, including a pig called Tock.

Obviously, Manchester and High Wycombe aren't exactly next door to each other, so Karen and Shelley mainly perform as a duo in local folk clubs, under the name "A Sip of Bailey's" - thanks to Karen's Mum for suggesting the name!

The line-up is:

Aly - vocals, fiddle, percussion, recorder;

Karen - vocals, guitar, percussion, recorder

Shelley - vocals, percussion, recorder

Reviews:

"Superb" (Ali O'Brien, Sounds of Folk, Oldham Community Radio)

"A beautiful blend of harmonies - voices like honey!" (Jean Finney)

"Their transportative singing produced some of the more magical and ethereal moments of the night." ('Friends Old and New' gig review)
